Built in 1109, the manorial fortress of Montrichard was built by the count of Anjou Coots Nerra on a natural rocky spur which dominates the valley of the Dear. Beyond the donjon, a medieval heritage deserves to be discovered in the city(estate). The site shelters currently archaeological and ethnological museums. A manorial fortress of the XIIth century which dominates with its squared donjon the city and the valley of the Dear, Visit was associated by museums and dividing medieval prison cells. First wooden fortification built in the XIth century by Coots Nerra III thought the "black Hawk", Count d' Anjou this manorial fortress built in the XIIth century, is built on a natural rocky spur which dominates the Church Sainte-Croix, the old(former) chapel of the castle, the city and the valley of the Dear. Its majestic square donjon overhangs a large court(yard) where it is possible to see the vestiges of "homes, built by Louis XI. The rich ethnological, paleontological, archaeological museums and the molinologique, installed(settled) on the site visit as well as the dividing medieval prison cells which are only opened on the occasion of Heritage Days.
