Exhibition "The Memory of the Wind (Talcy Garden)"
The Memory of the Wind
(Talcy Garden)
The subject of the wind was born from a conversation with an inhabitant of the village of Talcy. In small Beauce, the wind is very present in the daily life of the territory, if only by the existence of grain mills like the one located at one of the entrances of the village.
The idea was to choose the artist Bernard Moninot and his work Mémoire du vent.
For the past forty years, Bernard Moninot has been experimenting and exploring territories at the limits of the visible and the invisible. His work begins with patient observations in the workshop, like a laboratory, to prepare what he envisions as a collaboration between the artist and nature. According to him: art is the search for imaginary solutions to try to give shape to the impossible.
In view of his approach, questions arise: can shadow, light, space, wind, transparency be represented, enter into the framework of the sheet?
An instrument for capturing the movements of the air allows it to show the writing of the wind. The drawing is transferred to a medium.
The artist has collected the writing of wind in different places and landscapes of the world: India, Mexico, Morocco, Switzerland, Iran, France...
