Site of the crossing in the Loire between Châtillon-sur-Loire and Briare, located at the northern outlet of the bridge of Châtillon-sur-Loire, allowing boats sailing on the side channel of 1838 to reach the Briare canal before the construction of the Pont-Canal (1896). This river complex includes the Châtillon-Briare bridge, with its Escargot pier, a work unique in France, which allowed horses to reach the towing dike to allow boats to climb from the lock of the Combes to the lock of Mantelot.
