In der Epoche der ritterlichen Episoden gehört die Legende vom Ritter mit dem Schwan zu den berühmten Gebärdenliedern, insbesondere zu denen des ersten Zyklus der Kreuzzüge. Die Geburt des Schwanenritters offenbart den übernatürlichen Ursprung des Vorfahren von Godefroy de Bouillon. Auch Quelle des berühmten «Lohengrin», einer Figur der mittelalterlichen germanischen Literatur, die der arturischen Legende in Parzival angegliedert ist und eine gleichnamige Oper Wagners für Ludwig II. von Bayern inspiriert. Über den historischen Zusammenhang hinaus öffnet die Legende alle Türen der Phantasie und erinnert an die Archetypen des Wunderbaren: die geheimnisvolle Natur, die Metamorphose, das Übernatürliche, die Prüfungen, den Kampf, die Magie, das glückliche Ergebnis.

At the time of the chivalrous epics, the legend of the Swan Knight is one of the famous acts songs and especially those of the first cycle of the Crusades. The birth of the swan knight reveals the supernatural origin of the ancestor of Godefroy de Bouillon. Also source of the famous «Lohengrin», character of medieval Germanic literature, linked to the Arthurian legend in Parzival and which will inspire an eponymous opera by Wagner composed for Louis II of Bavaria. Beyond the historical relationship, the legend opens all the doors of the imagination, evoking the archetypes of the marvelous: the mysterious nature, the metamorphosis, the supernatural, the trials, the fight, the magic, the happy outcome.

All'epoca delle epopee cavalleresche, la leggenda del Cavaliere al cigno fa parte delle canzoni di gesto famose e in particolare quelle del primo ciclo delle crociate. La nascita del cavaliere al cigno rivela l'origine soprannaturale dell'antenato di Goffredo di Brodo. Fonte anche del famoso «Lohengrin», personaggio della letteratura medievale germanica, legato alla leggenda arturiana in Parzival e che ispirerà un'opera omonima di Wagner composta per Luigi II di Baviera. Al di là del rapporto storico, la leggenda apre tutte le porte dell'immaginario, evocando gli archetipi del meraviglioso: la natura misteriosa, la metamorfosi, il soprannaturale, le prove, il combattimento, la magia, l'esito felice.
