Esplanade de la Résistance
28000 Chartres
- Eure-et-Loir
- Centre-Val de Loire
For a long time the duty of Memory was limited to Chartres to commemorations related to conflicts in which France – and the Chartrains – were parties.
For fifteen years, the municipality has wished that the Memory of the city be dusted off and that the memory no longer be understood in the sense of the only tribute due to the disappeared, but more broadly to what makes the identity of Chartres, past or present, and which is worth being recognized.
Monuments and places, people, but also what is known as intangible heritage: traditions, stories, horticultural knowledge and uses… among many others.
Fully embracing and celebrating the Chartraine identity is now the ambition of Chartres' duty to remember. An ambition to be found in exhibitions, throughout the year, on the esplanade of the Resistance.
