Guided tour of the Froutven manor in Guipavas
Frédéric and Gaëlle de Frias will be delighted to take you on a tour of the Froutven manor house and tell you its story and small stories…
« In any case, the way from Morlaix to Brest had to pass a little further south to merge with the current path in the vicinity of the manor of Froutven. This manor house, whose white facade we can see through the foliage of a garden, in the middle of dilapidated outbuildings, does not seem to be, at first glance, pre-18th century. It is necessary to approach to recognize that its windows have Gothic mouldings, and to enter there to find a pretty ogival door with columns. The domestic chapel, formerly dedicated to Saint Eutrope, turns towards the main road its bell tower with dome and its mullion window practiced almost at ground level. A pavement led from the manor, allowing access in winter without getting bogged down in the path that became a swamp. In front, there is the octagonal base of a demolished cross, where remains planted a section of barrel. In the garden, with its charms and roundabouts, there is an old bust of terracotta dug up a few years ago; it seems to be the portrait of a general or a superior officer of the First Empire or the Restoration, In epaulettes, catogan and tie. »
