In 1450, Cordeliers from Dôle, founded a convent on the island St Laurent, at the request of the Duke of Burgundy Philippe le Bon. The cloister consisted of 3 main buildings and a church built in place of the present central building. An imperial decree of 23 April 1810 granted the convent to the town of CHALON. In 1844, the Military Engineer destroyed the church to enlarge the Barracks. It is now assigned to the 43rd company of CRS.
