Église Saint-Maurice de Thoisy-le-Desert
Rue de l'Église, 21320 Thoisy-le-Désert
- Côte-d'Or
- Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
The church Saint-Maurice, located on the gradient of the ground of the municipality, dominates the village practically. Seen from the outside, the set(group) gives the impression of a strong Romanic building, but, in reality it is about a romano-Gothic building that it is possible to date the XIIth century. Its Burgundian style is severe and bare but the choice(selection) of proportions, the extreme sobriety and exquisite purity of lines confer on it this noble speed(look) remarkable for its octagonal bell tower of a height of 32 m; this hollow pyramid of tuff holds by its own weight. Indoors, chorus(choir) and transept with a big(great) balance of masses, the unity(unit) of style of an undeniable homogeneity, all this part(party) classified as "Historic Monument".
