Montigny-les-Arsures houses the vineyard bought by the scientist on which he conducted an experiment in 1878 which put an end to the debate about the spontaneous generation of microbes after more than 20 years of controversy. The vine, still in production, is still today an experimental vine followed by INRA researchers. Pasteur enjoyed family walks in this village where he could conduct field experiments but also find fossils and admire the beautiful houses.
