Temporary exhibition "It is at this price that you eat sugar"
Through the example of the agro-industrial fields (whose size generally varies according to the nature of the crop that is developed there), this new exhibition designed by the House of Negritude takes stock of the consequences of the development of sugar cane, cocoa and coffee in the 18th century.
But also, about the life of this French colony (1697/1802): the inhabitants and their slaves. It was nicknamed «the Pearl of the West Indies» because of its considerable economic role for the kingdom of France from Louis XIV to Napoleon I.
Educational tools (quizz, game of the 7 families, etc.) will allow young and old alike to discover the different facets of sugar, coffee and chocolate that today are part of our daily lives.
A conference hosted by Isabelle Dobrila, dietician "sugar, chocolate, coffee, good or not good for health? " will take place at the Champagney Festival Hall on Sunday 18 September at 11.15 am as part of the gourmet market organized by the Heritage Committee of the city of Champagney.
