The castle, municipal museum, Yves Machelon is a former castle of the Sires de Bourbons, transformed into a prison until 1967. It is on this date that the municipality, under the Municipality of Yves Machelon, bought the buildings which it then transformed into a place of discovery of the Gannatois heritage.
The collections of the municipal museum are numerous. The main piece is undoubtedly the Carolingian Evangeliary, of inestimable value. The Gospel contains the texts of the four Gospels and is kept in a glass cage, protected from manipulation. It was digitized in 2007, to allow everyone to consult it on an interactive terminal.
Beyond this cultural treasure, the museum has many other objects that make up its collections: documents dating from the Gannatoise resistance, ancient vehicles, Art Deco objects, works of religious art, crafts and popular traditions.
About twenty rooms to which are added the temporary exhibitions, programmed for a season.

The museum, housed in the castle-fortress of the lords of Bourbon transformed into a prison, offers visitors a journey into Gannatoise history: skeleton of the fossil rhinoceros of 23 million years, God with gallo-Roman, religious arts including an evangeliary of the ninth century, various representations of life in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries: rural and bourgeois interior, saddlery, sandstone art Méténier, horse-drawn vehicles and automobiles, the resistance to Gannat during the Second World War including the photography background of Gabriel Séruzier. L'Évangéliaire carolingien, a manuscript book on parchment, the most prestigious piece in the museum, can be read on a touchscreen cabinet.
