Conference visit of the exhibition "Sales, a history of alpine pastures in Sixt"
From 2015 to 2019, the Archaeology and Built Heritage Unit of the Department of Haute-Savoie conducted historical and archaeological research on the alp of Sales, located in the town of Sixt Fer-à-Cheval, within a PCR (Collective Research Project).
This PCR was conducted at several sites in Haute-Savoie (Vallon de Sales, Salève, plateau des Glières) by a multidisciplinary team of archaeologists, geologists, environmentalists, completed by the work of a historian and an archaeozoologist and served by the surveys of a surveyor.
The studies seek to describe and reconstruct human uses as well as to trace the evolution of mountain landscapes and ecosystems from the Middle Ages to the present day.
Christophe Guffond, Head of the Archaeology Centre at the Department of Haute-Savoie and Scientific Curator of the exhibition, offers you a conference visit of the exhibition that was drawn from these studies.
