"Fossil Formation" is a series of three-chapter installations initiated in 2020 by Félic Côte. It explores the construction of memory in the digital age and the obsolescence of its media. The trilogy proposes a journey to the most remote spaces of the network and invites reflection around three major contemporary themes:
- the archive
- degradation of the data
- the right to be forgotten.
These themes are dealt with in the chapters respectively Printing, Erosion and Vanishing. Each piece of the trilogy uses both digital and material technical skills. All the chapters have in common to develop precise computer methods to succeed in recovering, on large platforms, the data from each unknown area considered.
