Former stronghold, the castle of Proméry, located slightly away from a hamlet of old houses, occupies a special place in the history of the old houses. It was rebuilt at the beginning of the 17th century by René Favre, senator of Savoie. Located at the foot of the Ferrières mountain, this old fortified house built in the thirteenth century, monitored the road to Geneva and Cuvat against the entry of possible enemies to Annecy. In 1618, the house became the property of René Favre de la Valbonne, State Councillor and Senator of Savoy, who rebuilt it to give it its current appearance. Despite the square towers, the castle became a residential building. The square-plan frame is associated with a forebody consisting of round towers and a portal with a pediment adorning the entrance to the castle. During the French Revolution, the castle was sold as a national property. In 1967, a fire ravaged part of the roofs. The ruined castle is saved and happily renovated.
