From the municipal elections of 1935 to the advent of the Vichy regime in 1940, the municipality of Saint-Martin-d'Hères, dominated by the left (with mayors Alexis Jourdan then Eugène Chavant), had to face multiple local and national issues, in parallel with the coming to power of the Popular Front, whose action she accompanied.
