This workshop, led by a professional calligrapher and lasting about 1h30, will introduce you to the art of tracing letters with different feathers and scales while telling you the history of writing. You will discover the multiple techniques of calligraphy as well as the natural inks used according to the periods.

The departmental archives have been installed since 1902 in a former normal school built between 1875 and 1877 at the initiative of the General Council. The rectilinear character of the building is enlivened by an alternation of stone and brick beds, inverted from one level to the other. However, part of the premises (western wing) was reserved from 1905 to 1927 for the service of assisted children, then, until 1978, for the TB clinic. In the late 1950s, a wave of work modernized the archives by installing self-supporting structures and metal shelving. In 1978, the archives took over the last wing of the building, after the departure of the dispensary.
