Discover the remains of the fierce fighting from 1915 to 1918: trenches, concrete shelters, railway tracks, cable cars...

The 1914-1918 war left deep traces in the Vosges. The association Guerre-en-Vosges proposes to discover the battlefield of the Chapelotte, long forgotten and the museum that is widely dedicated to it, the Center of Interpretation and Documentation 1914-1918.
The battlefield keeps deep traces. After the capture by the Germans of the height known as Hill 542 which dominates the pass, French and Germans buried themselves there face to face for four years about fifteen meters from each other. The multiple bombings removed the forest and a 30-month underground war fractured the rock to over 70 metres below the surface and opened multiple funnels. The visit of the site will allow you to discover the trenches and shelters of the two armies, the traces of the mine war and the German logistics.
This activity is reserved for walkers: good physical condition imperative, provide good walking shoes and flashlight!
Departure of the guided tours: 9h, 13h45, 14h30.
