Conference on the history of the cult of relics and reliquaries in charge of protecting them.

Frolois keeps a reliquary to the Haraucourt arms, dated 1544. This superb piece of Renaissance silverware contains a hundred relics distributed on both sides of the monstrance. This reliquary is an opportunity to review the history of the cult of relics and reliquaries in charge of protecting them and exalting their power. In parallel with the cult of the saints, which appeared at the end of antiquity, the veneration of their relics developed, a subject which knew different approaches over the centuries and which continues to arouse curiosity or controversy.

Several times(periods) of construction of the church Saint Martin are visible, that it is his(her, its) strengthened bell tower novel of the XIIIth century or the church itself of flamboyant style of the XVth and XVIth centuries. It was the same for the castle of Frolois, built in the XIIIth century and altered the from XVIth centuries till XVIIIth centuries. The church and the vestiges of the castle tell story of ’"Acraignes", old(former) Frolois, who(which) received many(well) masters(teachers), counts of Vaudémont in princes of Please.
