À propos du lieu

Centre d'interprétation de la ligne de démarcation
Place du Bassin, 71420 Génelard
  • Saône-et-Loire
  • Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
In a building with symbolic architecture, the Centre d'interprétation de la ligne de démarcation brings together a permanent exhibition on the history of the demarcation line. The permanent exhibition presents the history of this border that separated the occupied and the so-called free zone, crossing thirteen departments, including the Saône-et-Loire. Using archival documents, maps, photographs, and a video documentary, the exhibition provides a better understanding of the reality of this internal frontier imposed by the occupier: its layout, its surveillance, the influence on the daily life of the population, legal or clandestine passage, the development of the Resistance, etc.
