In 1901, the Government of of Lorraine Alsace decides to create an establishment intended(designed) to study problems put by the reconstruction of the vineyard reached(affected) by the Phylloxera. This is the way(That's how) nait the wine-making institute of Laquenexy. The Institute becomes in 1919 the "Wine-making Station(Resort) of the State for Alsace - Lorraine". 120 000 subjects are then grafted every year. From 1920, the vineyard(vine) undergoes a clear(net) backward movement(drop) in the region, the culture of the strawberry then takes off. Later, in 1953, the General Council of the Moselle acquires property and transforms it into Centre of Studies and Horticultural Tries(Essays) of Laquenexy. It is in this period that begins the promotion(class) of fruit culture and that the centre evolves in Departmental Centre of Fruit Experimentation. In 2008, the Garden of Flavours, compound(made up) today of about twenty gardened spaces, opens to the visitors. The heritage fruiterers stays in it importing with two labelled collections National Reference collections: that of apple trees with 700 varieties and that of raspberry canes with 94 varieties.
