It is around the city of Metz that the concentration of strengthened churches is the densest. They served as refuge to the inhabitants but also to the temporal Lords and member of a religious order of the region as fortifications along their borders.

Old(Former) guardroom and current Tourist office of the city, the building(ship) is the symbol of military power, in harmony with the Town hall and the old(former) Parliament. The space devoted to the welcome(reception) of the public was entirely renovated in 2012 and offers to all visitors a contemporary environment, so echoing the modern heritage of the city.
