(On D40 between Vioménil and Gruey-les-Surance, in the crossing of the road going to Grandrupt)

The forest of Grandrupt-de-Bains sheltered a scrubland(resistance movement): the Scrubland(Resistance movement) of Grandrupt. He(It) was attacked(affected) by a group of SS September 7th, 1944\. The resistance fighters went(surrendered) to avoid the destruction of the villages of Grandrupt and of Vioménil. The Germans had besides gathered(collected) the populations of Grandrupt in the church St Nicholas' Day and threatened to burn them. 223 resistance fighters were deported, to a great extent towards the Concentration camp of Dachau, among whom 116 have never returned.
