The deep conversation between a Japanese architect (Eiji Okada) and a French actress (Emmanuelle Riva) forms the basis of this celebrated French film, considered one of the vanguard productions of the French New Wave. Set in Hiroshima after the end of World War II, the couple -- lovers turned friends -- recount, over many hours, previous romances and life experiences. The two intertwine their stories about the past with pondering the devastation wrought by the atomic bomb dropped on the city. In French with English subtitles.
La conversation profonde entre un architecte japonais (Eiji Okada) et une actrice française (Emmanuelle Riva) constitue la base de ce célèbre film français, considéré comme l'une des productions d'avant-garde de la nouvelle vague française. A Hiroshima après la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, le couple - des amis devenus amis - raconte, pendant de nombreuses heures, des romances et des expériences de vie antérieures. Les deux mêlent leurs histoires du passé à la réflexion sur les ravages causés par la bombe atomique larguée sur la ville. En français avec sous-titres anglais.
