FILMAR en América Latina returns to Geneva from November 13 to 22, 2026, for its 28th edition. As Switzerland’s leading festival dedicated to Latin American cinema, it offers a rich program of nearly 70 films exploring issues of gender, memory, the environment, and indigenous struggles.
This edition highlights Latin American music through its CINE MÚSICA section, featuring films centered on the world of music, as well as live performances following select screenings. By celebrating its richness, Latin American music reveals itself as a vehicle for cultural transmission and a space for resistance!
Three awards will be presented: the Audience Award, the Youth Jury Award, and the Cine FILMAR Award. The first honors one of the films in the FOCUS SUD section, a selection of feature films that have made an impact this year; the second recognizes a film from the OPERA PRIMA section, which focuses on the debut works of up-and-coming filmmakers; finally, the last award—a major new addition to this year’s festival—is presented by a jury composed of film industry professionals.
FILMAR is also a place for connection and sharing, through festive and welcoming events and thanks to numerous initiatives that promote access to culture for everyone, of all ages, throughout the canton.
The full program will be available in late October. Until then, stay connected on our social media channels and at filmar.ch, where several announcements will be revealed in advance!
