Die Entdeckung eines einzigartigen Porträts, das Jean Legas, den Metzgermeister von Troyes darstellt. Heinrich III., der 1586 in Troyes war, bewunderte seinen bemerkenswert langen Bart so sehr, dass er sich entschied, ihn anoblir zu tragen. Laut lokalen Historikern war ihm Legas als ein Phänomen vorgestellt worden und um sicherzustellen, dass der Bart kein Postiche war, drückte er die Hand hinein. Er stimmte dann zu, Legas und seinen Nachkommen einen Adelstitel sowie die Verpachtung der Metzgereien von Troyes zu gewähren.

Discovering a singular portrait of Jean Legas, master butcher of Troyes. Henri III, during his visit to Troyes in 1586, was so admiring of his remarkably long beard that he decided to enoblir it. According to local historians, Legas had been presented to him as a phenomenon and wanting to make sure that the beard was not a hairpiece, he put his hand in it. He then agreed to grant Legas and his descendants a title of nobility as well as the lease of the butchers' shops in Troyes.

Secondo gli storici locali, Legas gli era stato presentato come un fenomeno e, volendo assicurarsi che la barba non fosse una postica, vi passò la mano. Accettò quindi di concedere a Legas e ai suoi discendenti un titolo nobiliare e la gestione delle macellerie di Troyes.
