31330 Merville
Located 20 km from Toulouse, the Château de Merville and its park are a unique testimony to the architecture and art of the 18th century gardens in the Midi-Pyrénées. The Castle and its park are classified as Historic Monuments and the Labyrinth labeled “Remarkable Garden”.
Contrsuit in 1743 by the Marquis de Chalvet, the castle passes to his son André-Antoine, who, although thrown in prison under the Terror, manages to keep his head but also his castle! Fortunately, Merville retains its furniture and decor. The granddaughter of André-Antoine brought Merville into the Villèle family, then the house passed by inheritance to the Marquis de Beaumont du Repaire from whom the current owners descended.
Today, there is a way to discover the places: the Enigma Route, to walk the labyrinth by solving puzzles on the theme of Tales & Legends, or the Castle Route, to follow a guided tour of the Castle and walk through the historical labyrinth.
