Tauchen Sie ein in die großen Geschichten der Süd-Gironde, durch eine kommentierte Tour, die auf die sozialen, wirtschaftlichen und kulturellen Veränderungen zurückgeht, die mit der Ankunft der Eisenbahn in Langon verbunden sind, die am 31. Mai 1855 eingeweiht wurde.
💬 Vier bemerkenswerte Geschichten illustrieren diese Zeit in Bewegung:
🔸 Château Mauriac (oder Château Génitrix)
Erbaut 1865 von Jacques Mauriac, dem Großvater von François Mauriac, ist dieser Ort eng mit der Eisenbahn und dem Wein- und Holzhandel verbunden. Er inspirierte den Schriftsteller zu seinem Roman Génitrix, mit einer düsteren und tragischen Atmosphäre.

Am 6. Februar 1907 verschwindet ein Versicherungsagent, der mit dem 13.30 Uhr-Zug in Langon ankommt. Er wird acht Monate später in der Garonne gefunden... Eine schmutzige Affäre vor dem Hintergrund von Diebstahl, Lüge und Grausamkeit, verbunden mit einem Café-Hotel mit zweifelhaften Besitzern.
🔸 Die Oliver-Familie - eine Dynastie von Köchen
Aus Langon stammend, werden fünf Generationen von außergewöhnlichen Köchen, darunter Raymond Oliver, die französische Gastronomie an die Spitze bringen. Vom Goldenen Löwen in Langon bis zum Hotel-Restaurant der Kaiserin Eugénie in Biarritz strahlt ihr Talent noch immer aus.

Immerse yourself in the great stories of South-Gironde, through a guided tour that looks back on the social, economic and cultural transformations linked to the arrival of the railway at Langon, inaugurated on May 31, 1855.
💬 Four striking stories illustrate this era in motion:
🔸 Mauriac Castle (or Génitrix Castle)
Built in 1865 by Jacques Mauriac, grandfather of François Mauriac, this place is intimately linked to the railway and the trade of wine and wood. It inspired the writer’s novel Génitrix, with its dark and tragic atmosphere.
🔸 The crime of Langon
On 6 February 1907, an insurance agent arrived by train at 13:30 in Langon disappears. He will be found eight months later in the Garonne... A sordid affair with a background of theft, lies and cruelty, linked to a café-hotel with dubious owners.
🔸 The Oliver family – A dynasty of cooks
Born in Langon, five generations of exceptional chefs, including Raymond Oliver, will bring French gastronomy to the top. From the Golden Lion in Langon to the hotel-restaurant of the empress Eugénie in Biarritz, their talent still shines.
🔸 The tobacco warehouses

Costruito nel 1865 da Jacques Mauriac, nonno di François Mauriac, questo luogo è intimamente legato alla ferrovia e al commercio del vino e del legno. Ha ispirato allo scrittore il suo romanzo Genitrix, dall'atmosfera oscura e tragica.
