Designed, planted with trees, and landscaped from 1958 to 1960 by Max and Dorothea, the garden extends the couple’s dwelling house, on nearly one hectare. Sometimes pleasure garden, sometimes park, the space testifies to a sensitive and peaceful environment. Various tree species (chestnut, yew, sycamore, cedar, maple, catalpa, Arizona cypress and fruit trees), groves and walkways invite to stroll. The gardener’s hut, the greenhouse with terracotta by Dominique Angel, the sculptures on the lawns by Dominique Bailly and Florent Lamouroux, and the wall surrounding the garden with bas-reliefs by Max Ernst, make up and foreshadow a sculpture garden.
