The building was originally built in the 17th century for the de Florainville family and it was later the seat of the municipality in 1794 which subsequently installed its museum. It then became the seat of the tribunal de grande instance before being that of the cour d'assises. The hotel is partially classified as a Historical Monument for its roofs and facades on the street.
It was the place of reception for the future Queen Marie-Antoinette of Austria during her journey from the border to the King.
