Monument sculpted by the famous sculptor Antoine Bourdelle (1861-1929) who was a practitioner in the workshop of Rodin, his master and influence. One may wonder why and how this modest commune, which had 737 inhabitants on the eve of the Great War, obtained such a gift? Simply because a resident of Trôo (Mr. Auguste Arnault) was friends with the sculptor and he accepted this order out of friendship for him. Antoine Bourdelle came several times to his friend’s house and loved the alleys of our village, our 'labyrinth' as he called it. He notes his impressions in three small notebooks that will be found by Max Fullenbaum at the Bourdelle museum in Paris.
