The Shoah Memorial is located opposite the city of La Muette in Drancy, a place originally intended for the construction of social housing. Requisitioned by Nazi Germany in 1941, the place became an internment camp and then the main transit camp for Jews deported from France during the war. Between 1942 and 1944, more than 63,000 Jews were interned there before their deportation. From July 1943, the station at Bobigny became the main place of departure for these people to Auschwitz-Birkenau, from where more than 22,500 Jews left. Today, both sites preserve and transmit the memory of the Holocaust.

From the summer of 1943 to the summer of 1944, Bobigny station was the main site of the deportation of Jews from France by Nazi Germany, with the support of the Vichy government. In 13 months, 21 convoys deported 22,500 people interned at the Drancy camp to killing centres. This site is today a major place of French memory of the Second World War.
On several hectares, from the historic entrance to the place of embarkation of the deportees in the yard to the goods, the former deportation station of Bobigny offers a visit path retracing the history of the place during the Second World War, based on testimonies and the railway landscape of the time. It allows to approach the history of the site under the Nazi occupation, the different times of the Deportation and the organization of convoys, the conditions of transport and arrival at Auschwitz, the implementation of the "Final Solution" as well as links to the sites of Le Bourget station and Camp de Drancy.

By public transport: Metro line 5: Pablo Picasso station, then tram T1 towards Asnières. Get off at the stop Escadrille Normandie-Niémen, then go up avenue Henri Barbusse for about 500 meters. Bus 151: From Porte de Pantin, in the direction of Bondy Jouhaux-Blum. Get off at Gare (Grande Ceinture). By car: By the A86 motorway, exit Drancy-Bobigny. Free parking is available on site. Accessibility: The entire site is accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM).
