Im Jahr 1903 erhielten Pierre Curie (1859-1906) und Marie Skłodowska-Curie (1867-1934) den Nobelpreis für Physik für ihre Entdeckung von Radium in einem Hangar aus Platten und Blechen. Die beiden Wissenschaftler träumen damals nur von einem neuen Labor, das für ihre Forschungen geeignet ist. Dieser Traum wurde erst nach dem Tod von Pierre Curie mit dem Bau des Institut du Radium de Paris unter mehreren Forschungs- und Lehranstalten der Wissenschaften wahr: die erste «Cité des Sciences de Paris» in der Entwicklung. Wie wird dieser Traum dank Marie Skłodowska-Curie und dem Architekten der Sorbonne, Henri-Paul Nénot (1853-1934), verwirklicht? Diese Konferenz soll die Konzeption der Radiumarchitektur im Dienste eines neuen wissenschaftlichen Feldes und seiner Praxis beleuchten.

In 1903, Pierre Curie (1859-1906) and Marie Skłodowska-Curie (1867-1934) were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for their discovery of radium in a hangar made of planks and sheets. The two scientists only dream of a new laboratory adapted to their research. This dream only came true after the death of Pierre Curie with the construction of the Radium Institute in Paris, among several research and science education institutes: the first "Cité des Sciences de Paris" in the making. How does this dream take shape thanks to Marie Skłodowska-Curie and the architect of the Sorbonne Henri-Paul Nénot (1853-1934)? This conference proposes to highlight the design of the architecture of the Radium Institute at the service of a new scientific field and its practices.

Nel 1903, Pierre Curie (1859-1906) e Marie Skłodowska-Curie (1867-1934) ottennero il premio Nobel per la fisica per aver scoperto il radio in un capannone fatto di lastre e lamiere. I due scienziati sognano allora solo un nuovo laboratorio adatto alle loro ricerche. Questo sogno si realizza solo dopo la morte di Pierre Curie con la costruzione dell'Istituto del Radium di Parigi, tra diversi istituti di ricerca e d'insegnamento delle scienze: la prima «Cité des Sciences de Paris» in divenire. Come si concretizza questo sogno grazie a Marie Skłodowska-Curie e all'architetto della Sorbona Henri-Paul Nénot (1853-1934)? Questa conferenza propone di mettere in luce la concezione dell'architettura dell'Istituto del Radio al servizio di un nuovo campo scientifico e delle sue pratiche.

Des carnets de laboratoire aux instruments de mesure, certains témoins de l'histoire de la radioactivité sont encore... radioactifs. A la croisée de l'histoire des sciences, de la conservation et de la gestion des risques, le patrimoine radioactif constitue aujourd'hui un objet de réflexion émergent.
Cette rencontre propose un dialogue entre Thomas Beaufils, spécialiste de ces collections singulières et Nicolas Benoit, expert en gestion des déchets radioactifs. En dévoilant les coulisses de cet héritage scientifique méconnu, ils interrogent les défis qu'il soulève : faut-il conserver des biens porteurs d'une valeur historique lorsqu'ils représentent un risque ? Quels sont les modalités de préservation et de mise en sécurité appliquées à leur nature si particulière ?

Los dos científicos no sueñan entonces más que con un nuevo laboratorio adaptado a sus investigaciones. Este sueño se hizo realidad después de la muerte de Pierre Curie con la construcción del Instituto del Radio de París, entre varios institutos de investigación y enseñanza de las ciencias: la primera «Cité des Sciences de Paris» en devenir. ¿Cómo se materializa este sueño gracias a Marie Skłodowska-Curie y al arquitecto de la Sorbona Henri-Paul Nénot (1853-1934)? Esta conferencia propone poner en luz la concepción de la arquitectura del Instituto del Radio al servicio de un nuevo campo científico y de sus prácticas.
