The Faculty of Health of Angers invites you to discover a unique exhibition combining photographic art and scientific rigor created by the Association of Friends of the Botanical Garden
This exhibition highlights the hidden treasures of the Faculty’s Botanical Garden as well as its valuable historical herbarium. Thanks to a meticulous work of digitization, the details invisible to the naked eye of medicinal plants are revealed through high definition photographic prints.
A quick word about the botanical garden:
A true institution dating back to 1890, this study garden preserves 2,000 plant species. In the center a garden divided into 32 beds where plants are classified by botanical families. A greenhouse houses tropical plants such as lemongrass, sensitive or carnivorous plants. The arboreteum grows a sassafras, a 150-year-old araucaria, a giant sequoia 42 m high, or a female ginkgo. On the terrace, the themed garden features clusters of plants grouped according to their therapeutic properties. The visit will end in the graineterie where species are kept in more than 1,600 jars of seeds.
