On May 10, 1859, the Saint-Louis River was erected as a parish. From 1860 to 1900, the first wooden church welcomed the faithful. The growth of the village at the end of the 19th century led the municipality to consider the construction of a new church. The municipal architect Henri Vasseur drew the plans for the building, which work continued from 1884 to 1900\. The collapse of the five pillars and arches of the nave prompted the municipality to install a metal frame between the existing walls, to the great despair of the priest who compared it to a "crushed factory or a nest of chickens". Of great lightness, it is today the whole interest of the church. The 12 cast-iron columns, crowned with capitals decorated with foliage, support the fall of pointed arches. In 1941, the church was endowed with a monumental bell tower and a new façade decorated with pinnacles bearing fleur-de-lis, symbol of the Virgin.
