Lecture by Florence d’Artois, Professor of Hispanic Studies, University of Toulouse Jean Jaurès
As part of our intangible cultural heritage, the dances of the Renaissance and the Baroque period have been passed down to us through written sources that are as diverse as they are fragmentary. Following a description of these dances, this lecture will examine the methods and challenges involved in the reconstructions of historical dances undertaken today, spanning the spectrum from live performance to 3D modelling. Particular emphasis will be placed on Spanish sources.
