Abstract:
This paper addresses the problem of integrating the compatibility criterion into the committee selection process under scoring rules. The goal is to choose a committee that optimally represents voter preferences, where each committee is associated with a weight vector reflecting the compatibility power of each committee member. The paper introduces the continuous weighted scoring function, characterized by the crucial properties of linearity and independence of zero-weight members. This function enables a trade-off between candidates’ performance and compatibility power in the committee selection process.
