From 1865 to the present day, Geneva and its mountaineering associations have played a pivotal role in the development of the sciences, arts, technologies, and practices related to mountaineering worldwide.
Drawing on the archives of the Geneva Section of the Swiss Alpine Club and with the support of the ALPS Museum in Bern, the Geneva City Archives, and the Association for Geneva’s Industrial Heritage, this exhibition explores various aspects of the profound influence that Geneva’s scientists, artists, and mountaineers have exerted over the course of 161 years of Alpine history.

De 1865 à nos jours, Genève et ses associations alpines ont joué un rôle déterminant dans l’évolution des sciences, des arts, des techniques et des pratiques en lien avec l’alpinisme mondial.
A l’aide des archives de la Section genevoise du Club Alpin Suisse et avec le soutien du musée ALPS de Berne, des Archives de la Ville de Genève et de l’Association pour le Patrimoine Industriel de Genève, cette exposition dévoile différentes facettes de l’influence déterminante que les scientifiques, artistes et alpinistes genevois ont exercée durant 161 années d’histoire alpine.
