Created in 1836, the foundry of Val d'Osne specialized in the technique of art casting to manufacture urban furniture and decorative cast iron. It quickly became the largest production of cast art in France. Since its creation in 1986, the Val d'Osne has enjoyed an international reputation, thanks to its production of cast art presented several times at world exhibitions.
It was in 1986 that the site closed permanently. Abandoned and looted, the Val d'Osne became an industrial wasteland. In 2014, Andra (National Agency for the Management of Radioactive Waste) acquired the site in order to renovate it. It reopened in 2023 after several months of rehabilitation.
The site consists of three emblematic buildings (the blast furnace, the pavilion and the power station), freshly restored and inscribed as historical monuments since 1993.
