Château de Vignory
Le Château, 52320 Vignory
The castle of Vignory is mentioned for the first time in archives in the middle of the XIth century and is the ownership of the family of Vignory implanted on the site, at the very beginning of this century. The donjon was built towards the environment(middle) of the XIIth century, in the past called "Tour Quarrée" and the different Lords will not then cease improving defences of their castle. So were raised(brought up), in the middle of the XVth century, the Tower to the Well which dominates the village and, at the end of this century or at the beginning of the XVIth century, the huge Tower Popgun, (20 metres in diameters and walls 7 metres in thickness what makes it the most important for a castle in Champagne-Ardenne). Since 2003, the vestiges of the castle, listed(classified) in conformance with(for) historic monuments, make the object of summer(summery) campaigns(countrysides) of restoration(catering), through the voluntary young people's construction projects organised by the association Histoire et Patrimoine, and of construction sites(works) of insertion and professionals since 2009\.
