In a bucolic site, far from any city, the chapel of Sainte-Marie-aux-Anglais has crossed 8 centuries and shows us how his master-builder had imagined it and had it realized. Around 1220 its interior walls were covered with paintings of which a large part has reached us and awaits a respectful restoration. By a study of the details of these paintings one sees clearly on the one hand their pedagogical destination and on the other hand the link of their authors with the currents of thought of their time.
