Archives départementales du Tarn
1 avenue de la Verrerie, 81000 Albi
Created during the French Revolution in 1796, the Tarn Departmental Archives keeps documents from the Middle Ages to the present day, some 18km. Since the decentralization, they are a department of the Tarn department. They constitute the historical memory of the department. They are responsible for scientific and technical control, collection and sorting, classification, conservation and communication to administrations and the public. They also receive funds of private origin as a result of donations, deposits, bequests and acquisitions. Since January 2005, the departmental archives of Tarn occupy a new building built on the former site of the Verrière ouvrière d'Albi.
