Originally from the region, Maurice Salembier is one of the emblematic architects of the new town of Villeneuve d'Ascq. He is notably responsible for three religious buildings and the rehabilitation of the Château de Flers. Drawing on numerous archival documents, photographs and an exhibition, Marie-Andrée Houillon, head of the municipal archives, will give us a chance to see and understand the work of this essential architect. The meeting will be followed by a visit to St. Mark’s Oratory in the City Hall district.

Originaire de la région, Maurice Salembier est un des architectes emblématiques de la ville nouvelle de Villeneuve d'Ascq. Il est notamment à l'origine de trois édifices cultuels et de la réhabilitation du château de Flers. En s'appuyant sur de nombreux documents d'archives, de photographies et d'une exposition, Marie-Andrée Houillon, responsable des archives municipales nous donnera à voir et à comprendre l'œuvre de cet architecte incontournable. La rencontre sera suivie d'une visite de l'oratoire Saint-Marc dans le quartier de l'Hôtel de ville.

Maurice Salembier is afkomstig uit de regio en is een van de emblematische architecten van de nieuwe stad Villeneuve d'Ascq. Het is met name aan de oorsprong van drie religieuze gebouwen en de rehabilitatie van het kasteel van Flers. Op basis van talrijke archiefdocumenten, foto's en een tentoonstelling geeft Marie-Andrée Houillon, hoofd van de gemeentelijke archieven, ons de mogelijkheid om het werk van deze essentiële architect te zien en te begrijpen. De bijeenkomst wordt gevolgd door een bezoek aan het St. Mark's Oratory in het stadhuis.
