The summer black and white duo show unveiling « Rhizomes », latest works by congolese romanian artist Maliza Kiasuwa and last editions of « Vela », by South African photographer Gavin Goodman in the gallery in Geneva is coming to an end.
“Rhizomes” is a series of sculptures inspired by organic forms and the networks of living things. The ropes evoke roots—invisible bonds that connect beings. Drawing on the concept of the rhizome developed by Gilles Deleuze, these works explore multiplicity, connection, and transformation. Here, nature becomes a metaphor for human complexity. The weaving here is not a collection of threads but a network of relationships between the threads. Everything holds together with a certain fragility.
“Vela, meaning “to appear” or “to emerge” in Xhosa and Zulu, speaks to the heart of this series. These works reflect the surfacing of beauty from tradition and the unfolding of form into a contemporary space. They don’t replicate African heritage, but rather appear as something new — interpreted through minimalist restraint and personal vision. Each hand-painted piece is a quiet unveiling, drawn from traditional garments and reimagined through a modern lens.” Gavin Goodman

L’expo d’été en noir et blanc présentant « Rhizomes », les dernières œuvres de l'artiste congolais-roumain Maliza Kiasuwa, ainsi que les dernières éditions de « Vela » du photographe sud-africain Gavin Goodman, à la galerie à Genève arrive à son terme.
"Rhizomes est une série de sculptures inspirées des formes organiques et des réseaux du vivant. Les cordes évoquent des racines, des liens invisibles qui relient les êtres. En référence au concept de rhizome développé par Gilles Deleuze , ces œuvres parlent de multiplicité, de connexion et de transformation. La nature devient ici une métaphore de la complexité humaine. Le tissage ici n’est pas un ensemble de fils mais un ensemble de relations entre les fils.Tout tient ensemble dans une certaine fragilité.
“Vela, qui signifie « apparaître » ou « émerger » en xhosa et en zoulou, résume parfaitement l'essence de cette série. Ces œuvres reflètent la beauté qui se dégage de la tradition et l'épanouissement de la forme dans un espace contemporain. Elles ne reproduisent pas l'héritage africain, mais apparaissent plutôt comme quelque chose de nouveau, interprété à travers une retenue minimaliste et une vision personnelle. Chaque pièce peinte à la main est une révélation discrète, inspirée des vêtements traditionnels et réinventée à travers un prisme moderne.” Gavin Goodman
