Les Créatives
Les Créatives and the MEG are joining forces for a weekend packed with a varied programme, entirely dedicated to the youngest members of the community.
What if growing up didn’t have to mean learning to conform, keep quiet or give up on yourself? From early childhood, we establish power dynamics based on age: adults often make decisions, interpret situations and speak on behalf of children, under the pretext of acting in ‘their best interests’. As part of the exhibition ‘What is the Future?’ at the MEG, this round-table discussion will examine the ways in which we educate, listen to and pass on knowledge. How can we set boundaries without humiliating or controlling? How can we recognise children and teenagers as fully-fledged individuals, capable of thinking, giving consent, participating and transforming our societies? Can we truly make vulnerability the starting point for a relationship based on care, trust and reciprocity?
Speakers:
Mai Lan Chapiron (FR) is an artist, author, composer and illustrator. In 2021, she created *Le Loup*, a tool for preventing sexual violence inspired by her own experiences. This project, aimed at children, quickly became a benchmark in France. Since then, she has devoted her time to this cause, which is her driving force. She has developed new tools and founded the Association Mille Miettes, dedicated to child protection through prevention, particularly in schools.
Lola Giouse (CH) is an actress, author and theatre director. Together with Géraldine Dupla and Simon Hildebrand, she founded the theatre company La Division de la Joie in Geneva in 2019, where she discovered the role of director and, quite by chance, the craft of writing for the theatre. In 2020, during her first collaboration with the Théâtre Am Stram Gram, she began to explore power dynamics between people of different ages through theatre.
Samah Karaki (FR/LB) is a neuroscientist and founder of the Social Brain Institute (SBI), a Geneva-based NGO that aims to advance society by drawing on cognitive science. She is the author of several essays, including *Talent is a Fiction* (2023), *Empathy is Political* (2024) and *Against Figures of Authority* (2026). Her work lies at the intersection of cognitive and social sciences.
Moderator: Victoire Tuaillon (FR) is an author and journalist. She is passionate about emancipatory ideas: following the huge success of *Couilles sur la table* (on masculinities) and *Coeur sur la table* (on love), she is now working on *Renverser la table* (a podcast and newsletter on Substack) and telling the stories of successful struggles in *Et parfois on gagne* (Arte Radio). In 2025, she produced Lolita Rivé’s podcast *Qui c’est qui commande?*, which explores children’s place in society, adultism and everyday educational violence.
It’s always best to arrive on time. Out of respect for the panellists, we will close the doors to the public 15 minutes after the discussion begins.
The discussion will be held in French.
