The MEG is partnering with the Afropea Cultural Centre for a programme of events surrounding the temporary exhibition ‘The Future, what’s that?’. Speaker : Mawena Yehouessi is a curator, researcher, and artist whose practice is rooted in collage, both as an ethic and a methodology of collective emancipation. After studying literature, philosophy, project management, and contemporary dance, she founded the collective Black(s) to the Future in 2015, launching a body of work at the intersection of art, research, and activism. Describing herself as a “collisionist,” she explores the frictions and synergies between disciplines, formats, and narratives. In 2024, she defended the first research-creation dissertation in the arts at Villa Arson and the Université Côte d’Azur, titled “Afrofuturist Poietics: Weaving Threads at the intersection of collage and curation. Since 2025, she has been teaching at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon.
This event is organised in collaboration with the Afropea Cultural Centre and the MEG – Geneva Museum of Ethnography.

Le MEG s’associe au Centre Culturel Afropea pour une programmation autour de l’exposition temporaire « Le Futur, c'est quoi ?». Intervenante : Mawena Yehouessi est une curatrice, chercheuse et artiste dont la pratique s’ancre dans le collage, à la fois comme éthique et méthodologie d’émancipation collective. Après des études en littérature, philosophie, gestion de projet et danse contemporaine, elle fonde en 2015 le collectif Black(s) to the Future , amorçant un travail à l’intersection de l’art, de la recherche et de l’activisme. Se décrivant comme une « collisionniste », elle explore les frictions et les connivences entre disciplines, formats et récits. En 2024, elle soutient la première thèse de recherche-création en Arts à la Villa Arson et à l’Université Côte d’Azur, intitulée Poïéthiques afrofuturistes : Trimer trames à l’intersection du collage et de la curation. Depuis 2025, elle enseigne à l’École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon.
Cet événement est organisé en collaboration avec le Centre culturel Afropea et le MEG – Musée d’ethnographie de Genève.
