Suzanne, a widow in her sixties, meets Osmane one evening in Beirut... He is young, black, Sudanese, an undocumented migrant. She is Lebanese of Palestinian origin, and is twice her age... They fall in love. Lebanon is on the edge of the precipice. While their love triggers an outcry, in the midst of the surrounding chaos, Suzanne and Osmane resist.
The premiere of Danielle Arbid’s Only the Rebels extends this Mediterranean journey with a work inhabited by revolt, intimacy and the fractures of history, embodied by Hiam Abbass, who brings to screen a strong and committed voice.
