Bei dieser Gelegenheit wird ein seltenes Werk vorgestellt: ein Band der rhetorischen Abhandlungen von Hermogenes von Tarsus (2.-3. Jahrhundert), der 1530-1531 in Paris auf Griechisch gedruckt wurde.
Das Buch ist nicht nur wegen seines Alters wertvoll. An seinen Rändern befindet sich eine lateinische Übersetzung des Textes: die Abschrift einer Vorlesung, die François Portus, der erste Griechischlehrer der Akademie (1561-1581), in Genf gehalten hat.
Der Band kehrt nun dank der großzügigen Schenkung von François Picard, Honorarprofessor für klassische Literatur in Frankreich, nach Genf zurück, wo er zusammen mit André Hurst, Honorarprofessor für Altgriechisch an der Universität Genf, präsentiert wird.
Eine Zeitreise zwischen antiker Rhetorik und Genfer Kulturerbe.

The Bibliothèque de Genève invites you to a unique evening at the Fondation Hardt, in Vandœuvres.

On this occasion, a rare work will be presented: a volume of rhetorical treatises by Hermogenes of Tarsus (2nd-3rd century), printed in Greek in Paris in 1530-1531.
This book is not only precious for its age. In its margins is a Latin translation of the text: the transcription of a course given in Geneva by François Portus, the Académie's first professor of Greek (1561-1581).
The volume returns to Geneva today thanks to the generous gift of François Picard, Honorary Professor of Classics in France, who will present it alongside André Hurst, Honorary Professor of Ancient Greek at the University of Geneva.

À cette occasion sera présenté un ouvrage rare: un volume des traités de rhétorique d’Hermogène de Tarse (IIe-IIIe siècle), imprimé en grec à Paris en 1530-1531.
Ce livre n’est pas seulement précieux par son ancienneté. Dans ses marges figure une traduction latine du texte : la transcription d’un cours donné à Genève par François Portus, premier professeur de grec de l’Académie (1561-1581).
Le volume revient aujourd’hui à Genève grâce au généreux don de François Picard, professeur honoraire de lettres classiques en France, qui le présentera aux côtés d’André Hurst, professeur honoraire de grec ancien à l’Université de Genève.
Un voyage dans le temps, entre rhétorique antique et patrimoine genevois.
