A gallant man, renowned courtier, distinguished soldier and academician, he found himself exiled following a satirical work
Histoire amoureuse des Gaules.
While waiting for a hypothetical return to grace, he eases his boredom by creating an interior setting that recounts his nostalgia as a courtier and his feelings.

En attendant un hypothétique retour en grâce, il trompe son ennui à créant un décor intérieur relatant sa nostalgie de courtisan et ses sentiments.
