Church commissioned by Louis XIV in 1684 to serve as royal parish. Jules Hardouin-Mansart was in charge of the construction carried out between 1684 and 1686\. The church became cathedral in 1791, then temple of reason in 1793\. In 1800, she was returned to worship. The building consists of a nave with three ships to which are added chapels, a non-protruding transept and a choir with ambulatory and radiant chapels. The facade is inspired by the Gesu in Rome. The sculptures are by Pierre Mazzeline and Noel Jouvenet. From 1858 to 1873, an axial chapel was built by the Poittevin, resulting in a redevelopment of the choir. Circular in plan and covered with a dome, it takes up the theme of the Marian chapels of the Classical period. The drum is lit by windows decorated with Neo-Renaissance stained glass windows.
