The top of the village of Château-Chervix is dominated by the medieval master tower, the only visible vestige of the castle built in the thirteenth century by the viscounts of Limoges.
The Romanesque dungeon was surmounted in the fourteenth century by an elevation with machicolations of alternating types. It is one of the best preserved quadrangular dungeons. With a height of 32 m, the tower is one of the largest in the series of square towers.
With a rectangular plan, the tower has a system of different buttresses depending on the sides. To the north and south, there are three buttresses supporting two semicircular arches. In the West, there are only two of them confining an arcade, which is divided into two semicircular arches, falling on a common crow. The eastern walls have been demolished. The walls are 2 m thick and are built with irregular dry stones of shale and granite. The keep had three floors, separated by wooden floors and forward communicated by removable ladders.
